Environmental Talks Evening

Join us for Environmental themed talks from some inspirational organisations covering topics such as Marine mammals, Single-use plastics, Food waste and recycling, this is a chance to find out about some of the amazing projects going on in Leeds.

Plus this is your chance to see the first showing of a film made by Plastic free Youth, who have been taking part in a creative leadership course for Young people over the past 8 weeks. This has been funded by #iwill fund and run by Plastic Free Me in partnership with Yorkshire Life Aquatic.

The Speakers…

Plastic-Free Me spread awareness of the plastic pollution crisis and empower individuals to tackle it. Since January 2017, they have seen such positive change in and around the city. Join our co-founder, Suzie Hall, for an introduction to plastic pollution and learn how small, local changes can have a huge, global impact.

Hear about the World Cetacean Alliance from Lucy Meredith from WCA partner organisation Yorkshire Life Aquatic and founder of the Human Aquarium. Learn about the largest partnership organisation protecting whales, dolphins and cetaceans and the important work WCA & partners do across the world.

Leeds University Union Marine Science Society talk is lead by Clio. Hear about the Marine Science & Conservation (MSC) society, who are  dedicated to spreading awareness about our wonderful seas and oceans (think all things Blue Planet).

Hear from founder of The Real Junk Food Project Adam Smith, who will talk about the work of the Real Junk Food Project.h

Hear about Greenpeace‘s work from Caroline James ( Greenpeace Leeds)

Francesca will tell you all about Love the Oceans work protecting and studying marine life, including many species of sharks, rays and the famous humpback whales. They use research, education and diving to drive action towards a more sustainable future for the Inhambane Province in Mozambique , protecting endangered species whilst increasing biodiversity.  Love the Oceans are another partner organisation of World Cetacean Alliance.

Rob Greenwood will tell you about Zero Waste Leeds and the work they do, including the #LeedsByExample work happening at the moment in Leeds and how you can get involved.
